Story of Ida
- 28 July 2004
Ida has been surrounded by dogs her whole life. Her parents used to wrap her up in a sleeping bag and took her out on runs. As soon as she was able to handle her own team her dad bought her a little kid sled. She used that to go out on runs with one or two dogs. She was a handler with her mom for her dad on the Yukon Quest 2016, and since that sh decided that she wanted to race with dogs too.
Ida’s goal for the future is to become better at what she is doing, learn as much as she can about dog care and health. She wants to learn how to keep her dogs healthy and happy, so she can get the best out of her team.
Ida was given the award for “Best care of dogs” in the Jr Iditarod in 2019.
“My big dream is to run the Yukon Quest in 2023 when I'm 18”.

Ida got seven pups to her birthday, Diego, Manny, Scratch, Ellie, Kiwi, Björk and Mommo. She took care of them and trained them the whole summer and when they were old enough, she started puppy training them with the sled.
“I just had one good experienced lead dog and needed one more, so I hooked Mommo up in front and had her in lead that whole puppy training season. She is the smallest dog in their kennel but knows what to do".
