Dog winter jackets
FAQ
Does my dog need a warm jacket?
Cold weather affects dogs differently. Breed, coat type, body composition, age, health, and activity level all influence how your dog experiences low temperatures. Puppies, senior dogs, short-haired breeds, lean dogs, and smaller dogs often lose body heat faster and benefit most from a warm dog jacket in winter.
Even dogs known for handling cold conditions can benefit from a winter jacket. During rest, recovery, long days outdoors, or extreme weather, additional insulation helps maintain body temperature and supports faster recovery after activity.
Here are some signs that your dog might need a warm jacket:
- Shivering and trembling in cold temperatures
- Shorter walks or hesitation to go outside
- Curling up tightly or seeking shelter instead of resting relaxed
- Spending extended time training, working, or resting outdoors in winter conditions
Which jacket is best for my dog?
The best winter jacket for your dog is the one that will allow them to move freely while covering most of their body to keep them dry and protected during your daily activities.
Take our Dog jacket quiz to find the best winter jacket for your needs, or explore our Guide to dog winter jackets to understand the differences between our designs.
How should the jacket fit on my dog?
A properly fitting dog jacket covers the major muscle groups while still allowing full freedom of movement. It's important that the jacket is not overly tight, as this could impede movement and compress the fur, reducing your dog’s coat's natural ability to insulate.
For active wear, the jacket should reach the base of your dog’s tail. If it is meant for resting and recovery, it can be slightly larger to keep your dog well-covered while lying down.
All our jackets are available in multiple sizes equipped with adjustments at the neck, shoulders, chest, and tail, and leg straps to provide the most precise and personalized fit for your dog.
Can my dog wear it over their harness?
Most of our dog winter jackets are designed with a leash portal to connect to a regular harness underneath.
The Long distance jacket series is specifically designed to be worn over a pulling harness.
How to clean my dog’s winter jacket?
Washing needs vary depending on materials and insulation type. Always follow the care instructions on the label to maintain performance and durability. Learn more in our complete guide to washing and caring for dog gear.
