Freemotion harness pro front

How do you improve a harness trusted by world champions?

When we create a new product or improve an existing one, it always starts with a simple question:

How can we make it even better for dogs?

It's a question that has guided us since 2009, when our founders couldn't find a harness that allowed their racing dog, Hårek, to move naturally, breathe freely and truly unleash his potential. Rather than accept the limitations of the equipment available, they set out to design their own.

That solution became the original Freemotion harness design, setting a new standard for pulling performance equipment.

Seventeen years later, the Freemotion harness has become one of the world's most successful pulling harnesses, trusted by world champions and everyday adventurers alike. More than 220 individual championship medals have been won using the Freemotion harness, proving its performance at the highest level of dog sports.

Today, this mindset has led us to the most technically advanced pulling harness we've ever built: the Freemotion harness pro.

Freemotion by design

Since its creation in 2009, the Freemotion harness has evolved through new materials, purpose-driven versions, and colors. The design, however, has remained consistent. Not because we stopped questioning it, but because after years of testing and development,  we simply haven’t found a better solution for canicross, bikejoring, skijoring and other high-pulling point dog sports.

Free motion - freedom of movement for dogs - is a design philosophy that emerged from creating a pulling harness that worked with canine physiology. Today, that philosophy lives on as Freemotion tech™, a combination of carefully engineered design features that come together to optimise fit and natural range of motion.

Freemotion design

Across the Freemotion harness range, Freemotion tech™ includes our signature padded Y-shaped front that allows free shoulder movement, ergonomic design that distributes the pulling force across the dog’s body, and adjustable side straps and back straps to adapt to different chest depths and back lengths.

Even though the Freemotion design continued to prove itself at the highest level of dog sports, we never stopped questioning or challenging it. Continuous innovation is part of how we develop every product at Non-stop dogwear.

So, the next challenge wasn't to reinvent the design, but to refine every detail of how it was built. We asked ourselves a different question:

How can we build it even better?

Rebuilt from the inside out

To answer that question, we had to rethink the entire construction.

It took three years of development and a close collaboration between our product developers, world champions, manufacturing experts and production partners to bring CleanSeam™ technology to life - a construction method that pushes dog gear design in a new direction.

Freemotion harness pro inner side

Inspired by reversed-seam construction principles used in high-end climbing equipment, nearly every seam and structural reinforcement is built from the inside out. Every panel, connection and reinforcement was reimagined to create one continuous, flexible structure that hugs your dog’s body while maintaining the strength and durability required for racing.

“What excites us most is how little of the work is visible. The finished harness feels light, clean and remarkably simple. Achieving that simplicity was the real innovation.” – Sebastian Plur Nilssen, Product Director at Non-stop dogwear

At first touch, the Freemotion harness pro feels strikingly slim and supple. CleanSeam™ construction gives the harness greater flexibility, allowing it to contour your dog’s shape much more precisely, create an exceptionally smooth surface against the coat, and minimize friction during movement. The harness stays stable under load, follows the movement more closely, all while being on average 36% lighter than the Freemotion harness 5.0.

Built to win

The precision fit made possible by CleanSeam™ gave us the opportunity to refine the harness even further for the dogs it was designed to serve.

Ben Robinson about the Freemotion harness pro

Elite canicross and high-speed mushing are largely dominated by athletic dogs with deep chests and slimmer necks, such as hounds and German pointers. While the Freemotion harness already suited these body types exceptionally well, sizes 5 to 7 – the most common among racing dogs - are now available with two neck options, allowing even more athlete dogs to achieve the precise fit needed to move efficiently at speed.

Every remaining detail had to justify its place.

Anti-slip side and back straps remain for adjustability. Hypalon reinforcements stayed where durability matters most. Everything else that didn't directly contribute to comfort, fit or performance was stripped away, resulting in our lightest and most streamlined Freemotion harness yet.

The Freemotion harness pro naturally joins the CaniX belt pro and Løype belt pro in the Pro series, developed for athletes and dogs where every detail, every stride, and every second counts.

The pinnacle of seventeen years of Freemotion development, built on decades of experience in dog-powered sports.
