Be safe, Be seen: High visibility dog gear guide

Every dog deserves to be safe and seen, no matter the activity.

Low light, rain, fog, snow, dense vegetation and changing weather can all make your dog harder to spot. High-visibility gear helps them stand out from their surroundings, making them easier for you and others to see.

Around roads, visibility can be especially important. A driver using dipped headlights may only see someone without reflective gear from 25 to 30 meters away. With reflective gear, that distance increases to around 140 meters, almost five times farther.

At 50 km/h (approximately 30 mph), that can give a driver around 10 seconds to react instead of just two.

That extra visibility can make a significant difference. A 2025 study found that pedestrians using reflective gear had an 84% lower chance of injury on lit urban roads in darkness.

From bright colors and reflective details to safety lights, there are simple ways to increase your dog's visibility and help keep them safe wherever you go together.

What makes high-visibility dog gear effective?

Different features help your dog stand out in different conditions.

Bright colors make your dog easier to distinguish from their surroundings, particularly in low light, poor weather and natural environments.

Reflective details return light from headlights, head torches and other light sources, helping your dog stand out when illuminated.

Safety lights provide an additional point of visibility when light levels are low.

For the best visibility, consider how much of your dog can be seen and from which angles. Thick or long fur can hide a collar, while a vest or jacket provides a larger visible area across the body.

High visibility dog vests

A high-visibility vest is an easy way to add a large visible area to your dog without changing their usual walking gear.

Our Reflection blanket combines bright color with a large area of reflective material, making it ideal when visibility around roads and traffic is a priority. Lightweight and easy to layer over your dog’s usual gear, it adds a large visible surface without changing their existing setup. When illuminated by headlights, streetlights or a head torch, the reflective material helps your dog stand out from several angles. Its packable design also makes it easy to bring along when conditions might change.

For forests, mountains and rougher terrain, our Protector series uses bright, highly visible colors to help you keep track of your dog against natural surroundings. The Protector cover 2.0 provides lightweight visibility with an open fit, while the Protector vest 2.0 offers more body coverage and a reinforced chest area for protection when moving through dense vegetation. Color-coded sides also help you see which direction your dog is facing from a distance.

For dogs using a GPS tracker, the Protector vest GPS 2.0 combines the closer fit and protective coverage of the Protector vest with a dedicated GPS pocket.

High visibility harnesses and collars

The gear your dog wears every day can help increase their visibility too.

Choosing a harness in a bright color with reflective details helps your dog stand out in changing conditions. The orange Line harness 5.0 combines a highly visible color with reflective details for everyday walks and adventures.

Our Protector collar also combines a highly visible color and reflective details, with an elastic safety section designed to allow the collar to expand if your dog becomes caught while moving freely.

For dogs with thick or long coats, consider adding a vest, harness or jacket that provides a larger visible area.

High visibility dog jackets

If your dog needs protection from rain, snow or cold, their jacket can help improve their visibility at the same time.

Don't forget yourself

Keeping your dog visible is only part of staying safe together. Make sure you're easy to see too.

Wear reflective gear yourself, including in areas with street lighting, and think about visibility from different directions.

When you head out together, make sure both ends of the leash can be seen.
Every dog deserves to be safe and seen.
